Golf was a popular outing for area schools on Tuesday. The Graves County boys competed at the Mayfield-Graves Country Club against Mayfield and Murray High; while the Graves County Lady Eagles competed at Paxton Park in Paducah against McCracken County. Both matches were very close as Mayfield continued their regional dominance in boys action, and McCracken County girls won a close match in girls action. With the regional tournament only a few weeks away, teams were sharpening their games with matches. Collins Dodson (32), was the medalist for the boy's match. Graves County's Jake Morgan and Dawson Fowler led the Eagles with scores of 34. Mayfield (135) won the team competition with Graves County (148) and Murray (175) finishing second and third. Other Graves County scores were Ryan Overby 40, Taylor Cope 40, Alex Jackson 40, Bryce Hayden 41, Josh Roy 41, Chase Carrico 42, and Trevor Williams 51.
At Paxton Park, McCracken County (175) held onto an 11 stroke victory over the Lady Eagles (186). Nicole Taylor tied for medalist honors with a 42. Other Lady Eagle scores were Laney Shoulta 46, Neely Shoulta 48, Abby Lyell 50, Madison Myers 51, Allyson Pritchard 55, and Macy Rodgers 55. Both teams will be in action on Thursday as they travel to Calvert City Country Club to play Livingston County, Community Fellowship, and Caldwell County at 4 pm.
