Girls Varsity Golf
With the end of the 2016 season drawing near, the Graves County boys and girls golf teams traveled to Calvert City County Club to play a four-school match with Community Fellowship, Caldwell County, and Livingston County. The Eagles (170) played a close match but placed second behind Caldwell County's 166. Livingston Central (172) and Community Fellowship round out the team competition. In individual play, Will Taylor of Caldwell County was medalist for the match with a 36. He was followed by his teammate Ben Knight (37), and Jake Morgan (39) of Graves County. Ryan Overby was next for the Eagles followed by Dawson Fowler (45), Alex Jackson (45), and Taylor Cope (46). Alex Jackson made an impressive shot on hole number four as he recorded an eagle with a ten-foot putt.
The Lady Eagles (186) won the girls' competition as the other three schools did not field a full team. Nicole Taylor took medalist honors with a 44. Other Lady Eagle scores were Neely Shoulta (45), Laney Shoulta (46), Abby Lyell (51), Madison Myers (52), and Sarah Lyell (61). Today's match was a birdie fest as Abby Lyell birdied holes one and two with a chip-in and a putt; while Neely Shoulta birdied number one with a four-foot putt.
The Lady Eagles will be in action this weekend as they host the Lady Eagle Invitational at the Mayfield-Graves County Country Club at 1 pm. Both teams will be in action on Tuesday as they host Carlisle County and Fulton County at Mayfield-Graves County Country Club at 4 pm.
