The Eagles and Lady Eagles won two matches with Mayfield on Thursday. The match was close on both sides as one court decided the outcome. The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Laken Shultz-Maddy Williams fell behind early in their doubles match 1-4, but fought back to 6-7 deficit. Then, Williams had a 20+ deuce service game to knot the score at 7-7. The match went to a tiebreaker and the Lady Eagle duo won. In the other doubles match Makayla Whitaker-Allie Clark played a close early but ended up winning the last six games and the court, 8-6. The Lady Eagles split their singles matches 3-3 with Makayla Whitaker, Pooja Patel, and Allie Clark winning easily. The final tally was 5-4 Lady Eagles.
Eagles finished doubles play with a 2-1. Carrico-Ellegood started their doubles play with a close match 8-5 at number one doubles. Hale and Whitaker won easily at number two with an 8-1 score. Singles started and the Eagles had a narrow lead. Brady Ellegood and Mark Whitaker came off first with 8-1 and 8-4 decisions. The singles match of the day was Isaac Carrico at number two. Trailing 2-5 early, Carrico fought back to even the score at 6-6. The deciding match was pushed to a tiebreaker which Carrico eventually won. This was the final margin of 5-4.
Both teams are in action after Spring Break on Tuesday as they travel to LaCenter for a match with Ballard Memorial.
