The Battle of the Birds (Golf Edition) took place on Wednesday at Mayfield Graves County Club. The match was tight throughout as the teams were within five strokes early on. Neither team has any difficulty being prepared for their cross-town rival each year. Mayfield and Graves County finished third and fourth in last year's regional tournament and seem to be primed for another run at the trophy. Mayfield won the team competition with a 147 to 158 score. In individual play, Paul Wynstra was the medalist for the Mayfield boys with a 33. Jake Morgan led the Eagles with a 36 followed closely by Ryan Overby 37. Other scores for Graves County were Bryce Hayden 42, Dawson Fowler 43, Josh Roy 44, Chase Carrico 44, Taylor Cope 45, Alex Jackson 46, and Trevor Williams 52. For Mayfield Collins Dodson 37, Husten Lancaster 38, Andrew Watson 39, Carter Dodson 40, Garrett Seay 44, and Keseaun Galbreath 49. In girls' play, Mayfield's Devany Cope was the medalist with a 36. Graves County was led by Nicole Taylor's 42 followed by Laney Shoulta's 48. Other scores for the Eagles were Ellie West 51, Neely Shoulta 53, Abby Lyell 54, Allyson Pritchard 55, Madison Myers 57, Macy Rodgers 61, Sarah Lyell 63, and Megan Dobrose 63. The highlight of the day was Megan Dobrose's chip-in for par on the par 3 number five. This is her second consecutive match with a chip in.
Both Graves County teams will be in action on Thursday as they travel to Kentucky Dam to play Marshall County at 4:00 pm
